You’ve met the lovely Hoffman family before – their smiles are contagious and Natalie and Mike’s love for their little boys, Matthew and William, can swiftly bring a tear to your eye. We did a family shoot on a hot North Carolina afternoon soon after William was born.

And I’d explain the post title, but it’s just not my story to tell…

Summer Light

Jennifer is one of my oldest friends in North Carolina — it’s hard to believe that we’ve been through two deployments together. Her baby boy, Caleb, is simply the cutest and he even braved the heat for a few photos outside. I’m so happy he did — the light was perfect!

Sam: 6 Months

If I had to describe the day we chose for this shoot with one word, I would say…HOT! It is mighty hot here in North Carolina and add 7.5 months of pregnancy to that and you get quite a combination! Luckily for me, this little family (my awesome next door neighbors) is completely ‘go with the flow’, so we switched locations from a hot and bright park to downtown Wilmington, which provided some much needed shade! And they took me out to dinner and ice cream, so this waddling photographer was a happy camper!

Meredith, Sam’s mom, asked me shortly after Sam was born if we could do a shoot every few months to document Sam’s first year. We had dinner at their house over the weekend and I loved seeing Sam’s newborn photos on their wall mixed with his 3 month photos. It is amazing how much babies change in such a short amount time!
